It's a wonderful life!

Our Family, l to r Uncle Kevin, Donna (Kevin's girlfriend), Kacey, Me, PopPop, Uncle Jim & Nana
Kacey & Uncle Jimmy strapped in and having a sing along in the driveway.
OOOOO, I had no idea Uncles were so wonderful!
Here we are on Christmas Eve, dressed up and waiting for Santa!

Let's face facts, Christmas is just better with a little one around and this one was most special for me and my family because we got to celebrate Kacey's 1st Christmas. We all wondered what we did before, just sit around watch movies and eat I guess. This year we went on walks, had car sing alongs, played with all the new toys and anything else Kacey wanted to do she kept us all hopping.

It was wonderful having the entire family for the weekend and Kacey was absolutely terrific I'll post the many photos of my brothers (and others) holding her, guess what I was actually home, she chose to head their way we are making tons of headway on her social skills!!! By last night she was done for though and more than ready for a good night's sleep.

I'm back at work this week and Kacey is home with Nana and Pop since her school is closed, they leave on Friday and Kacey and I will ring in the New Year (around 8PM) with Danielle and her family and have a playdate with Amelia and her Mommy too, should be a great way to welcome 2007!

Happy New Year!

A Santa I can love...

Just so we don't get skipped by the big guy in red on Sunday night I wanted to post this photo so he knows that Kacey really does love Santa...as long as he's just 1 foot tall!!!

HOHOHO!

Happy Holidays from me and Kacey!

I freely admit to being "technical ninny" so the fact that I could not figure out how to scan and post our Holiday card will be no surprise to any of you. As a substitute I wanted to post a few photos from Kacey's first portrait sitting, as you may remember it was 63 shots and not a single smile but I think that her face speaks volumes and I love every single one of them anyway.

For the love of Kacey...

What would I do for the love of Kacey...well I'd get up at least once in the middle of every night and scare away the boogie men, I'd wear my clothes only once and send them to the laundry so that I can get all the pretzel/watermelon hugs I possibly can, I'd get up at 5AM and go to work so that I could be home to "play" earlier in the day and not miss a single minute and I'd say no to every possible invitation I could get out of to spend more time at home with my sweet girl. There are a million other things I'd do if I had to but all I really have to do for the love of Kacey is be there, she just gives her love without strings or wanting anything back except for love in return, she is the sweetest thing I could have ever imagined along with being the most challenging, can you say 2 year old!

As we celebrate our 3 month "gotcha day" anniversary today I can't help but think back to that fateful day in Hefei when I was handed a scared and shy little girl and wondered to myself what in the world am I going to do with her now up until today when my little girl marches into school each day, leads the band and generally runs my entire house, she's just blossomed like a spring flower!

To name a few accomplishments, she's up to a 40-50 word vocabulary and can understand many more, she knows her colors, how to count to 10, her Sesame Street characters and everything about her "people posse" down to if we are wearing our back-up glasses (which really makes her mad). She goes up and down the stairs like a pro and has a great throwing arm, good for outside not so good for inside her bedroom, she still loves being outside and for all of us sit down when commanded, everyone under the age of 5 is a baby and dogs and cats are the best! She draws circles and finger paints, sing songs and reads everything she can get her hands on, we have NO IDEA what she is saying during these readings but she is loud and proud. She loves to march around the house clapping and singing and everyone must fall into line. On a bad note she has "un" potty trained herself since starting school, she still goes #2 on the toilet but #1 is a pull-up affair, this is a huge bummer but the doctor said to expect some sort of rebellion when she started school and I guess it could have been much worse and she has a stubborn streak a mile wide, it's a good thing I didn't have to "ferberize" her to sleep because I think she could have even beaten that system hands down.

I'll say it once again and probably on again every major anniversary, this is the hardest but BEST thing I've ever done in my life I couldn't have ever imagined being this tired or this well loved in my entire life, she is a blessing and I thank my lucky stars every night before I sleep!

Happy 3 month anniversary sweet Kacey, Mama loves you!!!!!

More Pics from the Joyous Visit!

Nana likes Santa!
Danielle, Peyton & Pop Pop Love Santa
Even with a little projection from Mom and Bob Kacey's still not so sure about the big guy!

This Went Well, Don't you Think?

First, please don't turn me in to cruelty to children. Kacey has the same reaction to my going upstairs or not getting a 3rd helping of apple sauce...she likes to make herself PERFECTLY clear when she's not happy!!!

After the initial contact she babbled about Santa the rest of the weekend BUT everytime I asked if she would like to see him again it was a definite NO NO!

The visit was a family & friend affair, Nana & Pop were there along with Danielle, Peyton, Gary, Jinger & Gracie, Bob even came all the way from St. Louis to see the show.

I don't have a photo but I heard Gracie cried even louder and harder than Kacey. Is that possible?

Take a close look at the photo of she, Gracie, Peyton and I, Kacey sees Santa out of the corner of her eye standing on the porch, she is not amused!!!

Listen for the howling!

Just wanted to warn everyone in the Atlanta metro area that I'm taking Kacey to see Santa at our Clubhouse tomorrow morning so if you hear her howling you'll know why. From this photo taken from the safety of a Costco shopping cart I can't imagine her "embracing" the idea of sitting smiling on the the big guy's lap.
I'm sure there will be a nice picture of me grimacing and Kacey screaming along with a very agitated Santa that comes from the visit!!!

HoHoHo Y'all!

Oh Christmas Tree!

We had a blast this weekend picking out the PERFECT Christmas Tree for Kacey's first Chirstmas. I think we got a beauty and so does Kacey! I'm sure it wouldn't have gotten decorated until January without some serious help from Nana & Pop, actually they did the entire tree all I did was untangle the lights!!! Our house is officially shiny and bright and now all we have to do is wait for Santa to come...right?

I hope your holidays are happy too!

Oh How Things Have Changed!

This is my life now, behind this door is Me (Julie) trying to go to the bathroom. Outside the door is Kacey who is NOT happy about the piece of wood between us. The moral of the story...just let her in for some peace and quiet :)
